Welcome to Mindful Ventures! This blog documents my newest
and most exciting journey to date: the building of Mindful Management, an innovative
start-up focused on bringing stress-reduction trainings and technologies to the
workplace.
We all have stress, but rarely do we take the time to think
about the impact it is having on our health, let alone our employer’s
pocketbook. The US spends more than 2 trillion dollars per year on healthcare
costs, and this cost is expected to grow by more than 8% each year for the foreseeable
future! US employers spend a whopping $7,500 on healthcare per employee each
year, and twice as much on employees that have stress-related illnesses. That’s
a lot of money—and money that we believe could be saved with a more integrative
and holistic solution to stress-management in the workplace.
Let me introduce you to Mindful Management’s head
researcher, inventor, and most importantly—INSPIRATION! Dr. Maryanna Klatt has
spent the past 8 years researching mindfulness-based-stress-reduction and the
impact that simple lifestyle changes have on workplace functionally,
engagement, & stress levels. Dr. Klatt has researched a unique mindfulness-based-stress-reduction
program, Mindfulness in Motion,
across various high-stress populations including: OSU Faculty and Staff, employees in
financial services, elderly adults, and registered nurses in two OSUMC
Intensive Care Units. The program combines what we believe are the three most
critical aspects of holistic stress-management—movement (yoga), mindfulness,
and music. Below is a photo of Dr. Klatt speaking at TedX Columbus (Fall 2011) about her research and Mindfulness in Motion training:

Participants in the Mindfulness in Motion training reported a significant reduction in stress scores, significant increase of Quality of Sleep & Work Satisfaction, as well as a significant decrease of salivary amylase (a biomarker of stress). |
Mindful Management is partnering with The Ohio State University to bring
this cutting-edge, research-based program to market. The company has closed
multiple sales, and is in the process of developing additional mindfulness
tools & technologies to help employees reimagine the way they live and
work. We are working to get our name out in the community and start building a
network of progressive thought-leaders invested in the health and well-being of
the American workforce.

dedicated to inspiring and supporting women entrepreneurs in all the key elements
of their business” (badgirlventures.com). Below is a photo of BGV’s Social
